Valley Girls & Guys! walkers soaked up the sunshine Friday afternoon at Bellevue Downtown Park as they finished the first leg of the Susan G. Komen Foundation’s 3 Day Walk for the Cure.
Tina McDonough, leader of the team, brought 140 walkers on her journey this weekend with 168 signed up for the event though some could not walk due to injuries. As of Friday afternoon more than $324,000 was raised by the team while McDonough said they were just a few thousand dollars away from raising $1.5 million since she first started walking six years ago.
McDonough, a Ravensdale resident, started all this when she and three others signed up to walk in honor of a friend who was diagnosed with breast cancer. Since then it has grown exponentially.
