Maple Valley City Councilwoman Victoria Jonas announced that she will be running for re-election.
Jonas has served on the council since 1999 and has served as deputy mayor for the past four years.
“I am proud of our accomplishments, particularly over the past four years, as we have made remarkable progress under some very difficult economic times,” Jonas wrote in a statement. “We have had to deal with a number of significant budget shortfalls which required decisions that sometimes were tough and at times unpopular. We accomplished what we were elected to do while still managing to provide the needed services to our city’s residents.”
The five day filing period will begin May 13 for the Aug. 6 primary.
