Maple Valley seeking high school applicants for Public Arts Commission

The Maple Valley City Council is recruiting high school students from the Tahoma School District who are interested in serving in the capacity of the Youth Representative Commissioner for the Public Arts Commission.

The Maple Valley City Council is recruiting high school students from the Tahoma School District who are interested in serving in the capacity of the Youth Representative Commissioner for the Public Arts Commission.

The duties of Public Arts Commissioners include attending meetings and making recommendations to City Council on matters of the arts within the Maple Valley community. The Public Arts Commission meets quarterly the first Thursday of the quarter from 5 p.m.-8 p.m., with occasional special meetings and workshops.

In order to qualify for this appointment, individuals must be of high school age and attend a school within the Tahoma School District. Students should have an interest in the arts and fostering public art within the city. The term of office for the Youth Representative Public Arts Commissioner position is one year.

The deadline for those wishing to be considered is July 14 at 5 p.m. Applicant interviews will be scheduled shortly thereafter.
