CLUB SOCCER: Synergy wins Starfire Labor Day Cup with help of local players

The U15 Synergy girls’ soccer team ended the summer tournament schedule at the Starfire Labor Day Cup on a high note by defeating Les Bois from Boise 2-0 on Sept 7.

Francine Lowe scored the first goal of the match on a rebound from Mo Clough in the 51st minute.

Lowe sealed the victory five minutes later with an arching free kick from 30 yards out into the back corner of the net.

Synergy beat the Seattle Blue Cats 2-0 in the first round on goals from MacKenzie Allan and Stephanie O’Hara.

Lightning interrupted Synergy’s second match against the Boise Capitols which ended in a 1-1 tie with a goal coming from Jesse O’Hara.

This set up a must-win game against Renton’s GRFC on Sunday afternoon. With three minutes left, Lowe bent a long free kick into the upper corner for her second goal of the game in a 2-1 win.

Players from a pair of local schools are on Synergy’s roster: Alissa Bates, Jordyn Clark, Sama Granlund, Lani Kutch, Francine Lowe, Hayley Warren from Tahoma and Mackenzie Bolton from Kentlake.
