Gymnasts ready to soar at state meet | Gymnastics

The West Central District III 4A gymnastic meet wrapped up Saturday at Mount Rainier High School with three gymnasts from Kentlake and one from Tahoma making the trip south to the Tacoma Dome for the state championship meet.

The West Central District III 4A gymnastic meet wrapped up Saturday at Mount Rainier High School with three gymnasts from Kentlake and one from Tahoma making the trip south to the Tacoma Dome for the state championship meet.

State qualifiers

Tahoma

Tenley Mjelde qualified for state in the all around category. She place fourth with a score of 36.7.

Vault 9.4 – third

Bars 8.9 – third

Beam 9.05 – 11th

Floor 9.35 -13th

Kentlake

Cassie Padilla qualified for state in the all around event with a fifth-place finish scoring 36.525.

Vault 9.35 – fourth

Bars 8.45 – 11th

Beam 9.25 – fifth

Floor 9.475 -seventh

Calista Webb will compete at state in the vault. She scored 8.625 for 15th. On the bars she scored 6.85, 40th; 7.750 on the beam, 46th; 9.2 on the floor, 23rd and 32.425 all around coming in 25th.

Avalyne Peters scored 8.6 in the vault for 16th and will join her teammates at state. Peters also qualified for state on the beam with 9.150, eighth, and the floor with 9.375, 12th. She scored 7.2 on the bars, 35th and 34.325 all around, for 16th place.
