A dentist put smile on Uganda man’s face
Thanks for letting me have this opportunity to give a big shout-out to Maple Valley Family Dental Care (the one behind the Pink Elephant car wash at Four Corners, near Safeway). Let me tell you how they have “given big.”
Many Reporter readers might recall reading about the Matsiko children’s choir that was in our area earlier this year. They are a choir of children from Uganda, performing all year long all over the western United States, spreading hope and raising awareness for the plight of underprivileged children around the world.
One of the choir directors was experiencing tooth pain and in need of a root canal. The day I found this out, I just happened to be taking my children for their twice-annual dental exam. I told the choir’s local sponsors that I would ask if my dental office could help in any way.
Let me tell you how Dr. Peter Jacobsen and his staff at Maple Valley Family Dental Care responded:
They immediately said yes to an initial exam and consultation with a “and we’ll take it step-by-step from there.” Well, the subsequent steps ended up being many hours and thousands of dollars to perform deep cleanings, a root canal and a crown – all pro bono, out of the love of their hearts to want to help someone in great need.
Oh, how this man from Uganda was blessed. Not only was he infinitely grateful for the help, but he was so impressed with American dental care. The dentists in Uganda dont use novacaine.
So, thank you, Dr. Jacobsen, for giving big.
Community’s help of school event: ‘Wow’
The Glacier Park Elementary School PTSA would like to acknowledge the great generosity of our families and local businesses in making our recent basket raffle and spaghetti feast fund-raiser a tremendous success.
We are very thankful to the many volunteers from Cedarcreek Covenant Church that served 500 pasta dinners to our students and their families. Cedarcreek volunteers also helped us during our spring book fair, and we appreciate their support of our school programs and events.
Every Glacier Park classroom contributed a themed basket to the PTSA for our auction. We thank our teachers, students and their families for their generous donations.
Many of our parent coordinators reached out to our community, and wow, did it respond. On that note, we wish to express our great appreciation to the following businesses for their generous support: Animal Hospital of Maple Valley, Cand B Awards-Covington, Chevron/NAPA Auto Care Center, CJ’s Bakery, Daniel Ross Salon, Desert Sun, Four Corners Veterinary Clinic, Frankie’s Pizza, Fred Meyer, Horizon Pet Supply, Java!
