The Kent School District will be hosting the highest achieving schools in Washington state at 9 a.m. on April 30. State Superintendent of Public Instruction Randy Dorn and State Board of Education Chair Jeff Vincent will be recognizing 381 schools that are receiving Washington Achievement Awards for 2012 during a special award ceremony at Kentwood High School.
“Kent School District and Kentwood High School are honored to both host this outstanding celebration andparticipate with other schools and school districts being recognized by Washington State for exceptionalstudent achievement,” said Superintendent Dr. Edward Lee Vargas.
Kentwood High School and eight other KSD schools are Achievement Award recipients and will be recognizedat the April 30 celebration. Among the KSD schools being acknowledged are:
Cedar Heights Middle School – closing achievement gaps
Covington Elementary – science
Jenkins Creek Elementary – high progress
Kent Mountain View Academy – extended graduation rate
Kentwood High School – closing achievement gaps and math
Tahoma School District schools that will be acknowledged are:
Tahoma High School – overall excellence and language arts
Glacier Park Elementary School – overall excellence and science
Rock Creek Elementary School – science
Lake Wilderness Elementary – closing achievement gaps
