After years of work on the Ravensdale Park, the completion was celebrated with a ribbon cutting on May 21.
The final two, lit multi-sport synthetic fields were unveiled to the public at the gathering.
Present at the ceremony were a number of residents and baseball teams along with people from the King County Parks, the Ravensdale Park Foundation and the city of Maple Valley.
In addition to the two new fields, Ravensdale Park includes a synthetic infield for the baseball field, a synthetic soccer field, an indoor baseball training facility along with restrooms, a parking lot, maintenance building and a community meadow.
According to Logan Harris, Public Affairs Manager for the King County Department of Natural Resources and Parks, the redevelopment of the property has been in the works for more than four years.
Harris wrote in an email that the King County Parks’ Community Partnerships and Grants Program and the city of Maple Valley both provided $2 million to this project.
He added, the Ravensdale Park Foundation provided an additional $1 million along with other services and resources.
