Tahoma Music Faculty Concert takes the stage Feb 11

The Mary Lou Harting Memorial Concert is an annual opportunity for students, parents, staff and the public to witness the amazing talents of the Tahoma School District’s music faculty. Each music teacher will sing or play instruments as solo or ensemble performers. Students, especially, will enjoy seeing their own teachers performing.

The concert is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 11, at the Tahoma Middle School Theatre, 24425 SE 216th Street, Maple Valley, 98038. Admission is a suggested $5donation. All donations will be collected for the Mary Lou Harting Scholarship fund to be awarded to graduating Tahoma High School seniors in May. Donations to the Mary Lou Harting scholarship fund can also be mailed to the Maple Valley Creative Arts Council, 23220 Maple Valley Hwy. SE, Suite 15, Maple Valley, WA 98038.

The Tahoma High School Chamber Choir and Reson8, an ensemble of local adult singers, both directed by THS/TJH choir director, Ken Riggs, will perform 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 16, at the Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, 216th in Maple Valley.

This special concert will feature a collection of Starlight Songs composed by Mr. Riggs. Beautiful music is composed to poems by Edgar Allen Poe, Sara Teasdale, Ranier Maria Rilke, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Emily Bronte, Paul Laurence Dunbar and John Milton.
