Carol’s Maple Valley Floral wants people to meet and make or renew friendships, and the business has free roses to help make it happen.

Beginning at 9 a.m. Sept. 3, Carol’s will give away 100 dozen roses to anyone who visits the shop at 23220 Maple Valley Hwy. The only catch is this: Robin and Don Erickson, the shop’s owners, will ask for a signed promise that people will keep one bloom for themselves and give the rest to 11 other people.

“We hope that the people of Maple Valley will get acquainted with new people or renew an old friendship,” said Robin Erickson.

The activity is part of FTD Good Neighbor Day. Carol’s Floral is one of three florists in Washington participating in the national event. Nine local businesses or community groups have paid for the roses that Carol’s will hand out.
