King County prosecutor Daniel Satterberg filed charges of second degree murder against Robert Green Thursday afternoon in the alleged beating death of a 16-year-old male in Covington on Saturday, May 11.

Green, 26, is being held on $1 million bail. If convicted he could face 10 to 18 years in prison according to the King County Prosecutor’s office.

The victim’s body was found in the road near the 19400 block of Southeast 267th in Covington at approximately 5:30 a.m. Saturday. Preliminary findings by the King County Medical Examiner’s Office found that the teen’s death was caused by multiple blunt force trauma injuries to the head.

At approximately 1:30 a.m. on Saturday Sheriff’s officers made contact with the teen in the 26100 block of 193 Southeast after receiving a call of a drunken person. According to the charging papers he was, “highly intoxicated and aggressive toward officers.” Police released the teen to his uncle who lives in Covington.

The charging papers go on to allege that the teen left the home on foot and there was a confrontation between him and Green, who lives several blocks away from the uncle’s residence, that escalated to assault.

Arraignment is scheduled for May 29 at 9 a.m. at the Norm Maleng Regional Justice Center.
