Big bats were the story Tuesday in South Puget Sound League North Division play. And nowhere was that more true than with Kentlake on the road at Thomas Jefferson. Falcons catcher Brittany Styger smashed three long balls helping her team take away a 21-0 victory over the Raiders to push the team’s record to 5-0 in league and 6-0 overall. Styger hit her third home run in the top of the fourth inning on a day she went 4-for-5 with 5 RBIs. As the ball came off her bat in a towering shot over the left center field fence Kentlake shortstop Erika Smyth watched from the dug out and asked, “Is that going out?” Out of the park it went. In the past week Styger has been on fire at the plate having crushed four home runs in games against Kentwood — Kentlake won that 12-6 — and Jefferson.

Kentlake’s 10 run third inning put Jefferson away.

As a result the offensive highlights didn’t end with Styger. Brittany Jacobsen finished 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored, Smyth went 3-for-5 with a double, 2 RBIs and three runs scored, Erin Crowley was 4-for-5 as she scored four runs and tallied 3 RBIs while Maddie Brown

finished 4-for-4 with three runs scored.

Meanwhile Kentwood bounced back from the loss to Kentlake on April 6 with an 11-1 pounding of Kentridge. Brianne Cossey was 2-for-3 for the Conquerors with 3 RBIs and a double while Hannah Feist went 1-for-3 and a pair of RBIs against the Chargers.

Tahoma had a 6-5 win last Wednesday against Auburn Riverside and followed that up Tuesday with a 10-0 five inning win over Kent-Meridian.

Kentlake has a double header Wednesday with Kent-Meridian while Tahoma travels to Thomas Jefferson, which tallied the Bears only loss this season, a 1-0 10 inning affair. Kentwood hosts

Mount Rainier on Wednesday.
