Kentwood and Tahoma football were both knocked out of the playoffs in their respective games Nov. 8.

Kentwood fell to Eastlake 52-7 at French Field.

“It was one of our uglier losses,” said Kentwood head coach Rex Norris. “They (Eastlake) just did a nice job turning the ball over.”

On the second play of the game Eastlake’s Troy Lewis took off with the ball, running 70 yards for an Eastlake touchdown to go up 7-0.The Conquerors held the Wolves to a field goal attempt on their second drive of the game and Kentwood’s Kyle Capperauld got his hand up to block the attempt, holding Eastlake to seven points.

In the second quarter Eastlake’s Gage Casal ran for 35 yards for the Wolves’ second touchdown of the night and the extra point put Eastlake up 14-0.

Kentwood answered with a 42 yard carry by Brandon Sytsma to put the ball on the 8-yard line but a fumble recovered by Eastlake halted the drive with four and a half minutes to go in the half.

Two more touchdowns and a field goal put Eastlake up 31-0 at the half. Kentwood continued to struggle with turnovers and containing the Eastlake running game in the second half.

The lone Kentwood touchdown of the night came from Sytsma in the fourth quarter.

“We have been on the other end of that before, we have been that team,” Norris said. “These kids are going to learn from this and they’re going to grow from it as men, I hope. I’m proud of them, I’m proud to be their coach. They had a great season and wound up winning enough games to win league.”

GIG HARBOR 56, TAHOMA 14

The Tahoma suffered a similar fate at Gig Harbor, with a 56-14 loss that knocked the Bears out of the playoffs Nov. 8.

Offensievely for the Bears Joe Donahue had 14 carries for 78 yards, DeShon Williams had seven catches for 122 yards, Elijah Suka had eight tackles and one fumble recovery while defensively Denham Patricelli had six tackles.

BETHEL 21, KENTLAKE 13

Jeremiah Vasquez’s 59-yard TD run in the fourth quarter lifted the Braves past the Falcons in a South Puget Sound League crossover contest to wrap up the regular season Nov. 7 at Art Crate Stadium in Puyallup. Andrew Dixon’s 4-yard touchdown and D’Marye Dedrich’s 16-yard touchdown passes to Matt Burley gave Kentlake a 13-0 lead in the first quarter.
