Civil Air Patrol Cadets, veterans, families and other military members honored fallen soldiers and deceased vets at the Tahoma National Cemetery with wreaths on Saturday, Dec. 14.

Cadets laid wreaths on graves after listening to special guest speakers and meeting the mothers of fallen soldiers.

Each December on National Wreaths Across America Day, a mission to Remember, Honor, and Teach is carried out by coordinating wreath-laying ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery, as well as at more than 1,600 additional locations in all 50 U.S. states, at sea, and abroad, a Civil Air Patrol (CAP) press release stated.

Wreaths Across America partners with four organizations to conduct national and international Wreaths Across America ceremonies: the CAP, the Gold Star Mothers, the Chris Kyle Frog Foundation, and the Truckload Carriers Association. Wreaths Across America is one of the only national CAP fundraisers and partnerships involving the entire Civil Air Patrol.

Wreath purchases are sponsored by individuals to honor their loved ones and other military veterans laid to rest.

Gold Star wife Britt Harris finds comfort in honoring late husband through WAA.

“When you can see around those holidays that people are going to come out and remember you and your

soldier, it makes it a little more bearable,” Britt stated in the press release.
