The following is press release from the Black Diamond Police Department.

On Aug. 2, Black Diamond Police responded to the Black Diamond Museum for a report of the Museum receiving a donation of old mining explosive blasting caps.

Police discovered the blasting caps were severely deteriorated and unstable.

The scene was secured, and the area was evacuated. Their partners at the Port of Seattle Explosives Unit responded and detonated the blasting caps. Although no foul play is suspected, Black Diamond Police are attempting to determine who donated the blasting caps to the museum.
