Wastemobile coming to Covington area
The household hazardous waste collection service known as Wastemobile is coming to the Covington-Kent area June 8-10.
The collection will be set up at Kent Fire Station 75 at 15635 SE 272nd Street from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.
Residents can drop off household hazardous waste items including pesticides, oil-based paints, automotive products (oil, antifreeze, lamps, etc.), fluorescent bulbs/tubes and other items without a charge. The service is pre-paid through garbage and sewer utility fees, according to a media release.
Local students graduate from Eastside Catholic
Seven local students from Maple Valley, Renton and Kent will graduate along with Eastside Catholic’s class of 2018.

The graduation ceremony will be held at 7:30 p.m. Monday, June 4 at Benaroya Hall in Seattle.
Maple Valley looking for arts commissioners
The Maple Valley City Council has openings on its Public Arts Commission and are looking for candidates to apply.
The Arts Commission make recommendations to council on matters regarding the arts within the community.
The commission meets six times per year from 6 to 8 p.m.
Current openings include: one person employed within city limits, two students attending high school with the Tahoma School District and two citizens residing within city limits.
Applications needs to be submitted by 5 p.m. Friday, June 29. Applications can be picked up at City Hall, 22017 SE Wax Road.

Pig roast luau fundraiser coming this month
Starting at 5:30 p.m. Friday, June 22 the Black Diamond Community Center will be hosting a pig roast luau to support seniors and family programs held at the center.
Tickets are $30 and can be picked up at the center or you can call 360-886-1011.

Monthly meeting announcement
The Greater Maple Valley Unincorporated Area Council will host its monthly meeting from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Monday, June 4 at the Maple Valley Fire Station at 22300 SE 231st St.
This month, the guest speaker will by Major Troy Olmsted, commander of the King County Sheriff’s Precinct 3 in Maple Valley.

No swimming notice
A 24 hour no swimming notice has been posted for Monday, June 4 to Tuesday, June 5 at Lake Wilderness.
The shoreline and swimming beach will undergo a herbicide treatment to target nuisance pondweeds.
Swimming at your own risk will resume following the 24 hour closure. The official swimming beach will open Saturday, June 23.
