Black Diamond’s Hunter Coffman, who spent most of his young life battling brain cancer, died on March 23 at the age of 4.
The Black Diamond Police Department, who deputized Hunter as Chief for a Day in 2016, honored him with a police procession from the police department to New Life Church in Renton on April 5, where a memorial service and celebration of life was held.
Many who attended wore shirts with the slogan “Hunter Strong” in memory of Hunter’s constant optimism and love of life, even during his cancer treatment.
Pictured are Hunter’s parents, Laura and Atom, who shared stories of their son and thanked the many people who came to remember him. Also pictured is Black Diamond Sgt. Brian Lynch, who organized the 2016 annual Boots and Badges basketball game between the BDPD and the Enumclaw Fire Department to raise money for Hunter’s treatment.
