The following is a press release from the city of Covington.
Covington Mayor Jeff Wagner has earned the core Certificate of Municipal Leadership and the Advanced Certificate of Municipal Leadership from the Association of Washington Cities (AWC).
AWC’s Certificate of Municipal Leadership (CML) program recognizes mayors and councilmembers for accomplishing training in four core areas.
The trainings provide city elected officials with the knowledge they need to effectively operate within the law, plan for the future, secure and manage funds, and foster community and staff relationships.
Elected officials must complete 30 credits of training to receive the CML. Additionally, they must earn another 30 credits of participation in conferences and trainings plus six months of community service to receive the Advanced CML.
Wagner is currently serving his second two-year term as mayor of Covington and has been a Covington councilmember for over 13 years.
His community service over the past 30 years in Covington also includes service for the Kiwanis Club of Covington, the Covington Chamber of Commerce, the Covington Economic Development Council, the Covington Days Festival, Covington Merchant’s Association, Communities in Schools and the Covington Domestic Violence Task Force among others.
