Inspection notice for Maple Valley residents
The King County Department of Assessments will be conducting property inspections in Maple Valley now through summer 2018.
The inspections will take place during daylight hours from 8 a.m. to 5:15 p.m.
According to a notice, this process will include knocking on doors of residences, physical inspections of the front and rear, taking photographs, driving slow down residential streets and walking around neighborhoods.
The inspections will be done by Department of Assessment staff, who will be carrying identification. If there is any suspicious activity outside of this listed above, call 911 or dispatch at 206-296-3311.
Upcoming November shows
Jim Hanna will be performing three shows in the month of November.
The first is today, Friday, Nov. 3 at 9 p.m. at Murphy’s Pub in Wallingford before performing two shows locally.
Hanna will perform from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18 at Ristrettos Coffee and Wine and then from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 25 at Vintage Vino and Espresso.
Traffic studies near Tahoma High School
According to a release from the city of Maple Valley, studies are being done to study the impacts of traffic in order to make any adjustments as needed.
Three key locations near Tahoma High School where movement counts and intersection analysis data is being collected is state Route 169 and Southeast 271st/Tahoma Way, SR 169 and Southeast 276th and SR 516 and 228th Avenue Southeast.
The release stated the results will be used to coordinate with the Washington State Department of Transportation to initiate any timing changes that may be needed.
The counts will be taken during peak school time from 6:30 to 8:30 a.m. and 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.
Local office supports Toys for Totsdrive
Scott Beusch, a local Edward Jones financial advisor, released he is supporting the Marine Corp Reserves Toys for Tots program, according to an Oct. 26 release.
Residents can bring new, unwrapped toys to his office at 16340 Southeast 256th Street, Suite B100 in Covington. Toys can be dropped off from now until Dec. 9.
Free groceries for Thanksgiving on Nov. 18
Solid Rock Community Church will be giving out 300 Thanksgiving meals at its annual Big Give from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 18 at Kentwood High School.

Items needed by the food bank
The Black Diamond Community Center’s food bank is preparing to serve families and seniors in the area.
The following items are needed: instant oatmeal, peanut butter, jam/jelly, canned chili, canned stew, canned fruit, spaghetti sauce, pasta and mac and cheese.
The community center is also looking for new socks.
Drop off hours are Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
