The Greater Maple Valley-Black Diamond Chamber of Commerce announced the election of three new board members – Doug Corbin, Puget Sound Energy; Patti Jenson, Allstate, The Jenson Agency at Four Corners and Karen Crowe, EnviroSpect Northwest.

Corbin has been actively involved in the Maple Valley – Black Diamond Chamber for more than four years and recently had been filling a vacancy on the board. He brings a broad range of experience to the board and has a desire to engage every member in the activities of the chamber so they find value and benefit from membership.

Prior to his position in community services, Corbin spent several years in PSE operations group where he managed engineering and new construction activities for South King County. Corbin has been with PSE for over 30 years and has been active in numerous community events. He has been involved with several area chambers as well as rotary (past president) and the Master Builders Association.

Jenson just celebrated her fourth anniversary as a business owner in Maple Valley. Prior to being an Allstate agency owner, she worked in the Allstate regional office for seven years, three years in the sales department and four years in corporate relations. She was responsible for communications between corporate and the agency force. Prior to Allstate, Jenson was a partner in a real estate consulting firm that specialized in relationship marketing for builders and developers. Her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration is from Oregon State University.

As a Maple Valley-Black Diamond Chamber of Commerce board member, she would like to encourage growth and make sure new businesses to the area feel as welcomed as she did when first opening her agency’s doors. Jenson believes regardless of the type of business, networking, social interaction and community support are vital to success. Encouraging the residents of our community to shop and play locally is equally as important to the success and vitality of the business community.

Crowe has been a resident of Maple Valley since 2005 and enjoys spending time with her family and being involved in the community. The past years have been spent working at a local telecommunications company in operations management and project management positions. Shortly after moving to Maple Valley, Crowe and her husband Michael opened Pinnacle Home Inspections, LLC. After more than two years of operating this business, they decided to expand and open EnviroSpect Northwest. Crowe left her tenured position in corporate America and ventured out to manage the new business. Making a huge change to her career path enabled Crowe to take a more active role in the community. Her involvement includes being an active board member of the Maple Valley Pony Baseball Association, managing food drives for the Maple Valley Food Bank and breast cancer awareness. Becoming more involved in the community has provided a better perspective on the needs of local business owners as the city continues to grow. Crowe sees the chamber as the vehicle for providing a platform for the success of small business owners and the growth of the local economy.

The three other elected board members will join existing board members, Sandi Sutton, All Service Plumbing; Jack Emmons, John L. Scott & Mortgage Masters, Maple Valley; Jim Flynn, Flynn Development; Tim Lemon, Maple Valley Fire & Life Safety and outgoing president Bill Woodcock, W Real Estate Services.

This year’s incoming board president is Kevin Kalberg of Claffey’s Painting and Mold Solutions N.W. Retiring from the board is Kevin Patterson, public information officer for the Tahoma School District.
