The Tahoma boys and girls track and field teams once again proved to be on the top step

TRACK AND FIELD

The Tahoma boys and girls track and field teams once again proved to be on the top step at the North Puget Sound League meet.

The girls won the meet with 152.5 points and the boys won with 119.5.

GIRLS

Sophomore Aliya Wilson swept the two sprint events, taking the 100 meters in 11.80 seconds and the 200 in 24.72.

Junior Breanna Glover conquered two distance events, winning the 1,600 in 5:09.53 and the 3,200 in 11:28.81

The 4×100 and 4×200 relay teams of Tierra Wilson, Olivia Ribera, Alisha Wilson and Aliya Wilson won the 200 in a time of 1:42.77 and the 100 in 47.51.

In the field Ginny Mehl dominated by winning the shot put with a throw of 43 feet. She won the discus reaching 132.03 and the javelin at 134.02.

Alisha Wilson won the long jump reaching 18-03.75.

BOYS

For the boys junior Dawson Besst won the 1,600 and 3,200. He won the 1,600 4:21.27 and 3,200 in 9:27.60.

Sophomore Zachary Klobutcher won the pole vault 13-00.

Bobby Say, a junior, took the triple jumps 46-01.25.

Kentwood

The Conquerors took second in both the girls and boys team scores. The boys scored 76 and the girls 68.5.

BOYS

On the boys side Harsimran Singh, a senior, won the 800 in 1:56.11.

Senior Keetaan DeWitz won the 110 meters hurdles in 15.08.

The 4×400 relay team of Omari Brown, Camden Phelps, Daniel Gaik and Harsimran Singh won in 3:26.27.

GIRLS

Senior Nicole Soleim won the 3,200 for the Conks in 11:14.63.

Kentlake

The Falcon girls team took 11th with 26 points and the boys 14th with 8.

BASEBALL

The West Central District baseball tournament dodged rain showers Saturday and eventually completed the bracket at Art Wright Field.

Kentwood took second losing to Puyallup 9-4 after beating Kennedy Catholic 4-1 earlier in the day.

The Conks opened the tournament beating Skyview 4-0.

Kentlake took third beating Kennedy Catholic 5-4. The Falcons lost earlier in the day to Puyallup 4-0. Kentlake opened the tournament with a 5-0 win over Sumner.

Tahoma took sixth beating Battle Ground 5-2 at Heritage Park Saturday. The Bears played three do or die games before facing Battle Ground in a state seeding game. Tahoma opened the tournament with a 10-7 win over Curtis in a loser out game. Next the Bears beat Federal Way 11-1, then Skyview 4-3.

The 4A state championship tournament begins Saturday.

The Falcons play at 10 a.m. at Heritage Park in Puyallup against Issaquah.

Kentwood plays at 1 p.m. at Foss High School in Tacoma against Battle Ground.

Tahoma plays a 1 p.m. game at Heritage Park against Puyallup.
