As Kentwood, Kentlake and Tahoma students enjoy their winter break, The Reporter is taking a look back at the beginning of the 2016-2017 winter sports.
BOYS BASKETBALL
The Kentwood Conquerors are tied with Kentridge for first place in the North Puget Sound League 4A Cascade division.
Both have an undefeated 5-0 league record.
The Conks are 9-1 overall.
Tahoma boys are sitting in fifth with a 3-3 league record and a 5-5 overall.
And the Kentlake Falcons are in last place in the NPSL 4A with a 0-6 league record and a 1-8 overall.
Despite the break from school, the boys basketball teams are still competing.
The Conks do not pick up play until the new year when it hosts the Chargers. Tip off is set for 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3.
Tahoma hosted an Australian National Team on Thursday. And is scheduled to host Bonney Lake today, Friday, Dec. 30, at 2 p.m.
The Falcons participated in the Auburn Riverside Holiday Tournament on Wednesday and Thursday.
Kentlake returns to play in 2017 when the Falcons host Kennedy Catholic at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
The Kentlake Falcons are leading the NPSL 4A Cascade division with an undefeated record.
The Falcons are 6-0 in league plat and 9-0 overall.
The Bears are sitting in third place with a 4-2 league record and an 8-2 overall.
And the Conks are in fourth place in the NPSL 4A with a 3-2 league record and 3-6 overall.
The Falcons played two non-league games Wednesday and Thursday and open up league play again in 2017.
Kentlake travels to Kennedy Catholic for a 7:15 p.m. game Tuesday, Jan. 3.
The Tahoma girls played in the Lady Quakers Holiday Showcase at Franklin High School on Thursday.
The Bears have another game in the Lady Quakers Holiday Showcase scheduled for 5:25 p.m. today, Friday, Dec. 30.
On Jan. 3, the Bears will host Mount Rainier at 7:15 p.m.
The Conks played Auburn Mountainview Thursday and continue league play on Jan. 3.
Kentwood will travel to Kentridge to face the Chargers at 7:15 p.m.
BOYS SWIM AND DIVE
The Tahoma Bears are in third place in the NPSL 4A with a 2-1-0, 2-1-0 record.
Kentwood is two spots behind them in fifth place with a 2-2-0, 2-2-0 record.
And the Falcons are in seventh place with a 1-3-0, 1-3-0 record.
Tahoma doesn’t return to the pool until Thursday, Jan. 5 when the Bears swim against Kennedy Catholic. The meet is scheduled for 3 p.m. This meet was rescheduled from Dec. 15.
Kentwood travels to Covington on Jan. 12 to face the Bears. Meet time is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
The Falcons will host Hazen at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 5 at the Covington Aquatic Center.
GYMNASTICS
The Kentlake Falcons have participated in two meets to start the season.
The Falcons won both meets.
Kentlake scored 154 in its Dec. 7 meet against Enumclaw, Kent-Meridian and Thomas Jefferson.
And on Dec. 14 the Falcons scored 164 against Auburn, Hazen and Kentridge.
The Conks tied one meet and came in third in another this season.
On Dec. 7 Kentwood scored 135 to tie with Auburn High School.
And on Dec. 14, the Conks scored 141 to put them in third place at a meet against Auburn Riverside, Tahoma and Thomas Jefferson.
The Bears have come in last and in second place in its two meets so far this season.
The first was Dec. 7 when Tahoma scored 133 to finish behind Federal Way, Auburn Mountainview and Hazen.
Then on Dec. 14, Tahoma scored 142 coming in behind the host school, Auburn Riverside.
To start 2017, the Bears will host Kentlake, Kennedy Catholic and Decatur at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4.
And the Conks next meet is scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4 at Auburn Mountainview.
The hosting Lions, Enumclaw and Kentridge will be there.
WRESTLING
Tahoma, Kentwood and Kentlake are all tied for first in the NPSL 4A Cascade division.
The Bears, Conks and Falcons have a 2-0 league record.
Tahoma is 2-0 overall, Kentwood is 3-0 and Kentlake is also 2-0.
Tahoma will host the Kentlake Falcons at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4.
Kentwood will travel to Mount Rainier to face the Rams at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4.
