Pauline Lucile Kombol, 83, of Enumclaw, Wash. died Monday, Jan. 24, 2011. She was born March 31, 1927 in Auburn to the late John H. and Nina Marie Morris and was descended from Oregon Trail pioneers and Welsh immigrants.

Her family lived in the coal mining town of Durham before moving to Enumclaw when she was 6 years old. She graduated from Enumclaw High School in 1945 and briefly attended the University of Washington. She married Jack Kombol in 1950. They had five children. Pauline was a long-serving managing partner of Palmer Coking Coal Co. and served as director on the boards of the Enumclaw School District and Cascade Security Bank.

She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Paula Jean, husband Jack, and is survived by Barry and Rebecca Kombol of Enumclaw; Bill and Jennifer Kombol of Black Diamond; Jeanmarie Bond of Coronado, Calif.; Danica Kombol and David Lewis of Atlanta, Ga. She has fourteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Cal Bashaw became her life partner during the last decade of her life.

In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made to the Black Diamond Historical Society or the Enumclaw Public Library. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 5, at the Sacred Heart Church of Enumclaw.
