Washington state fallen firefighters’ memorial service to be held June 2

This annual service honors those firefighters who gave their lives in 2012 for the communities they served.

The public is invited to join fire services from around Washington state at the 2013 Washington State Fallen Firefighters’ Memorial Service at 1 p.m. on June 2.

This annual service honors those firefighters who gave their lives in 2012 for the communities they served.

This year’s ceremony recognizes Engineer Ernie Rideout of the Kent Fire Department Regional Fire Authority and Firefighter John Moncrief of South King Fire and Rescue.

The Washington State Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service is honored to have Governor Jay Inslee attend and speak at the service.

The service begins on the front steps of the Capitol Rotunda with a pipes and drums led procession and the retrieval of the Ribbons embroidered with the names of fallen Washington firefighters. The procession of family members and ribbons will then pass through a corridor of honor and move into the rotunda for the remainder of the ceremony.

The Washington State Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service Committee would like to recognize: IAFF 7th District, WA Firefighters Motorcycle Club, The Soup Ladies, Olympia Ramada Inn, West Coast Awards, Anna’s Sewing Floral Ingenuity in Olympia, All Access Printing, O’Blarney’s Irish Pub Liz Jackson,  and Hero to Hero.

The event is sponsored by the Washington State Fire Fighters’ Association, the Washington Fire Chiefs, the Washington Fire Commissioners Association, and the Washington State Council of Fire Fighters.
