Oh sure, you may think you can’t sing, but Dace Anderson, founder of Dace’s Rock ‘n’ More in Maple Valley, will say that you just haven’t learned how to use your voice right.

The non-profit music school is offering a free class to help anyone who wants to learn how to sing to use their voice properly, Anderson said, with the class starting Tuesday, Aug. 10.

“We think there’s a huge lack of singing in the world,” Anderson said in an e-mail. “And we think that way too many people are way too self-conscious about singing. We want to change that with our vocal class and that’s why it’s free.”

Allison Tulloss teaches the class who, in addition to vocal instruction, also teaches piano and flute at Rock ‘n’ More, Anderson said.

“We’re inviting everyone in the community to come and sing with us,” Anderson said. “We welcome all ages and all skill levels.”

Tulloss will cover a variety of topics in the class including voice quality and control, projection, intonation and harmony.

“Students will also have an opportunity to work on their individual singing goals as well,” Anderson said. “So whether you’re already singing in a band, or simply have a desire to improve your voice, join us!”

Anderson said that though “the class is free we greatly appreciate donations as we have to pay for the teacher’s time.”
