Kent Regional Fire Authority commissioner Pat Riordan will retire at the end of the year and was recognized for his service to both the Regional Fire Authority and King County Fire District 37 at the Dec. 4 Regional Fire Authority board meeting.
Riordan will be retiring from the board and the district on Dec. 31. He has served as a King County Fire District 37 Commissioner from 1997, as the Chairperson of the district from 2009 – 2012, and as a member of the RFA Governance Board from its inception in 2010.
At the meeting, both Covington Mayor Margaret Harto and Fire Chief Jim Schneider praised Riordan for his dedication to the job, his support of the fire department, and his keen sense of always asking the right questions.
Harry George Jr. has been elected to replace Riordan and will be sworn in to his position at a January board meeting.
