Neither mud, rain or wind could stop the perennial cross country powerhouse, Tahoma Bears, from posting another sterling performance at the district meet and earning a state berth for the boys and girls teams Saturday in Pasco.
The Tahoma boys team won the 4A district championship scoring 51 points while the top two runners took second and third Saturday at American Lake.
Senior Keegan Fitzpatrick ran second in 17 minutes, 12.70 seconds.
Graeme Schroeder, also a senior, ran third in 17:15.30
Sophomore Dawson Besst ran ninth in 17:22.20, Devon Walters was 19th with 17:44.20, Tristan Houser 20th in 17:44.30, Nick Gennarelli 31st in 17:51.70 and Colton Egberg 41st with a time of 18:04.70.
The Tahoma girls team took third scoring 113 points.
Breanna Glover ran 11th in 20:21.30, Peyton Shinnick was 18th with 20:30.20.
Katarina Zosel was 28th with 20:48, Phoenix Aguilar ran 31st with 20:49.50, Kayla Contreras was 32nd in a time of 20:50.40, Melinda Day ran 36th in 21:00.30 and Chloe Hobson was 49th with a time of 21:25.30.
KENTWOOD
The Kentwood boys team came in 18th scoring 399 points.
Running for the Conks were Adam Wheeler at 72nd in 18:43.30, Matt Nechiporuk came in 81st in 18:52.30, Brendan Stamper 86th in 19:00.10, Ross Principe 88th in 19:03.70, Bobby Belter 116th in 19:27.40, Koji Natsuhara 117th in 19:32.00 and Alex Miller came in 134th in 20:00.10.
Junior Nicole Soleim ran 43rd for the girls in 21:19.70.
KENTLAKE
Hezekiah Goodwin ran 96th in 19:08.50 and Christian Gealta took 99th in 19:10:10
The top seven teams and top 35 runners from the district meet move to the state championship.
