An early-morning crash east of Enumclaw left one young person dead and four others hospitalized.
The single-car accident occurred at 2:38 a.m. Sunday on state Route 410.
According to information provided by the Washington State Patrol, there was a “bonfire party” in the Greenwater area. Four passengers were in a 1990 Honda Accord driven by Bryson Stubbles, 20.
He lost control and the four-door Honda left the road, went over an embankment and crashed into a tree near milepost 48.
A passenger in the front seat, 18-year-old Paco Frees of Kent, died at the scene. Transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle were Stubbles, Aaron Hewes, 20, of Spanaway, and a 16-year-old female. Their injuries were initially reported as ranging from “life-threatening” to “serious.”
Another passenger, 18-year-old Lorenzo Dawson of Puyallup, was taken to Tacoma General Hospital with serious injuries, according to a WSP press release.
The WSP noted that, “due to evidence of impairment,” Stubbles was taken into custody for one count of vehicular homicide and three counts of vehicular assault.
Detectives are seeking witnesses to the accident. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Russ Haake at 425-401-7717.
