The Wings of Karen Bra Dash 5k will be held Sept. 15 in Maple Valley.

The event at Lake Wilderness Park supports local breast cancer research with 100 percent of the proceeds supporting Wings of Karen.

Participants are encouraged to wear a bra over their race day shirt and toss it triumphantly at the finish line, symbolizing the spirit needed to find a cure.

Wings of Karen is a 501(c)3 (Tax ID # 45-4577998) nonprofit breast cancer research foundation started in 2012 that contributes 100 percent of all individual funds raised to the breast cancer research and clinical programs at the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, a powerful collaboration between UW Medicine and Fred Hutchison Cancer Research Center, and other life-saving institutions across the Pacific Northwest.
