Tahoma’s girls cross country team added another trophy to the case with a third place finish at the state championships in Pasco Nov. 9.

Delaney Tiernan led the charge for the Bears with an eighth place finish, crossing the finish line with a time of 18 minutes, 26.28 seconds, nearly 20 seconds faster than her 13th place finish as a sophomore in 2012. Kayla Contreras was next to finish, coming in 15th.

Kent-Meridian freshman Olivia Baerny was the highest placing girl from the Kent schools, coming in 36th at 19:11.84. Kyra Kaiser, a junior from Kentridge, finished 64th.

Meanwhile, the Tahoma boys finished in sixth place, with senior Riley Campbell finishing eighth with a time of 15:28.09. As a junior, Campbell finished 17th with a time of 15:49.1.

Kentwood’s Robin Cheema was the highest finished of boys from the Kent schools, coming in 30th with a time of 16:00.32.

Gig Harbor won the boys team title thanks to sweeping the top three individual spots.
