Maple Valley deputy mayor trails challengers

The first primary election numbers at the King County election site shows Maple Valley Deputy Mayor Glenn Smith trailing challengers Jim Flynn and Bill Allison for City Council Position No. 2.

The first primary election numbers at the King County election Web site shows Maple Valley Deputy Mayor Glenn Smith trailing challengers Jim Flynn and Bill Allison for City Council Position No. 2.

Flynn leads with 49 percent and 914 votes, Allison is second with 581 votes, 31 percent and Smith has 351 votes, nearly 19 percent. There were five write-in ballots cast.

In the Black Diamond City Council race for Position No. 4 William Saas tops the group with 41 percent and 176 votes, Jim Kuzaro is second with 38 percent with 163 votes and Paula Koch-Boyd is third nearly 19 percent with 80 votes. Five ballots were write-in.

In the County Council race for District No. 9 the incumbent Reagan Dunn racked up an early lead with 14,221 votes, nearly 72 percent. Second is Beverly Harison Tonda, 3,961 at 20 percent and third is Mark Greene at 1,534 votes, nearly 8 percent. There were 74 write-in votes.

Susan Hutchison leads in the King County Executive race with 37 percent, 65,917. Second is Dow Constantine with 22 percent, 39,536 votes.
