Woman returns to car after workout to find car broken into and credit card stolen | Covington-Maple Valley Police Blotter

After working out at LA Fitness, a woman returned to her car to find that someone had broken into her vehicle using what appeared to be a half-inch flathead screwdriver, then stole items from her car. She later reported someone had used her credit card, which was stolen from her car earlier in the day. The card was used to buy gas at the Circle K, 17624 Southeast 272nd Street, not far from where her car was broken into.

  • THEFT: 27200 block of 172nd Avenue Southeast. After working out at LA Fitness, a woman returned to her car to find that someone had broken into her vehicle using what appeared to be a half-inch flathead screwdriver, then stole items from her car. She later reported someone had used her credit card, which was stolen from her car earlier in the day. The card was used to buy gas at the Circle K, 17624 Southeast 272nd Street, not far from where her car was broken into.
  • NICE TIRES: 16100 block of Southeast 256th Place. Someone jacked up a truck parked in a vacant lot next to the owner’s home, put it on blocks, then stole tires and rims from the truck in the middle of the night.

  • VANDALISM: 27300 block of 172nd Avenue Southeast. Someone shot bullet holes in the front door of a business with a pellet gun or .22 caliber rifle.
  • GRAFFITI: 19400 block of Southeast 266th Street and 27100 block of 164th Avenue Southeast. A deputy responded to reports of gang graffiti that was spray painted on the fence in a residential neighborhood and less than two hours later the deputy responded to a report of graffiti, also believed to be gang related, in the men’s bathroom at the Covington Library.

  • THEFT: 16700 block of Southeast 272nd Street. Upon returning to his car that he’d left in a Park and Ride lot at Fred Meyer at the end of his work day, a man heard a “horrendous noise” when he started his car. He realized the noise indicated someone had stolen his catalytic converter while he was at work.
  • HIT AND RUN: Southeast 256th Street and 180th Avenue Southeast. Suspect struck the victim’s vehicle then fled the scene of the accident, the front bumper of the suspect’s car fell off in the process.

  • SUSPICIOUS PERSON: 27700 block of 245th Avenue Southeast. A woman drove by the a person’s residence and took photographs of the license plate of the car owned by the person who called.

  • EMBEZZLEMENT: 22800 block of Southeast 264th Court. A suspect took business equipment without the owner’s permission and pawned it.
  • FOUND: 21100 block of Southeast 276th Street. A truck stolen from Kent was found in Maple Valley. The thief switched license plates on the truck before dumping it.

  • VANDALISM: 23700 block of Southeast Kent Kangley. While conducting a business check in the Four Corners area, a deputy noticed a cap was off one of the coin vaults at the car wash. Upon closer inspection the deputy observed that someone had attempted to pry open a vending machine at the self-service car wash.

  • GRAFFITI: 23600 block of Southeast 267th Place. Someone spray painted letters and numbers on a wooden fence some time overnight in the Wilderness Summit neighborhood.
