Maple Valley Food Bank asks for donations

Families who live in Black Diamond, Covington, Hobart, Ravensdale and the Tahoma School District are eligible for donations

The Maple Valley Food Bank & Emergency Services is increasing the number of July and August food bank visits for households with school-age children. Families who live in Black Diamond, Covington, Hobart, Ravensdale and the Tahoma School District are eligible.

The food bank is asking for donations of kid-friendly foods, such as peanut butter, jelly, macaroni and cheese, soup, tuna, mayonnaise and cereal. Monetary donations are also asked for the wholesale purchase of milk, eggs, meat and fresh produce.The agency is also helping fill backpacks with grade-level appropriate supplies for young neighbors.

Donations of new school supplies will be accepted until Aug. 17. About 600 student registrations are expected. Go to www.maplevalleyfoodbank.org for a list of supplies needed and community donation drop off sites, including Bank of America at Wilderness Village, Maple Valley Fitness, Key Bank at Four Corners, Thrive Community Fitness and Covington MultiCare.
