Tahoma needed an extra inning to win its final game of the regular season 10-8 over Thomas Jefferson.

Heading into the bottom of the fourth inning things were looking good for Tahoma as it had a 7-0 lead on the road against Jefferson.

That was until until the Raiders bats came alive as they scored six runs and sent 11 batters to the plate.

The Bears threatened to score in the top of the seventh but left two runners on the bases then fended off the Raiders in the bottom half of the inning who tried to play small bull and manufacture runs with bunts.

In the top of the eighth Lisa Maulden led off with a single up the middle. Sammii Jimenez and Jordan Walley both singled to load up the bases.

Kiley Dunn hit a sacrifice fly to drive in Maulden to score the winning run. Senior captains Katie Jo Myers and Kaila Wilkinson hit singles back to back, with Myers driving in the ninth run.

Emily Miller hit a sacrifice fly to put the final run on the board for Tahoma.

That final at bat for the Bears was “amazing,” Myers said.

“I can’t feel any better,” she said. “We reached our goal.”

Standing at the plate, Myers said, she had one thought on her mind: score.

“Just do whatever it takes, sacrifice yourself to get those runs over,” she said.

Next up for Tahoma, which has earned a share of the South Puget Sound League 4A North Division title with rival Kentlake, is the SPSL playoffs this weekend.

It has yet to be determined as of this writing whether Kentlake or Tahoma will be the no. 1 seed from the North as the teams have one loss in league play each – to each other.

The top seed means byes in the first two rounds and a berth into the semi-final game of the SPSL tournament May 14-15.
