State Route 520 is now open in both directions following a westbound closure that began Friday night. Contractor crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation reopened the westbound lanes before 10 a.m. Sunday, May 11.
During the closure, crews poured the first concrete for the roadway deck of the new West Connection Bridge, which will link a new SR 520 floating bridge with the existing highway on the western shore of Lake Washington.
The closure had been scheduled to last until early Monday morning, but favorable conditions allowed crews to complete the work early.
SR 520 Eastside Transit and HOV Project crews continue work scheduled for this weekend on the Eastside. 108th Avenue Northeast and 112th Avenue Northeast remain closed between Northup Way and Northeast 24th Street in Bellevue.
WSDOT posts information about construction closures and nighttime work on the SR 520 Orange Page, the interactive construction and driver planning tool for the SR 520 program. The SR 520 website also provides information on the SR 520 Bridge Replacement and HOV Program.
