The debate for City Council Position No. 2 sponsored by The Maple Valley Reporter is set for 7 p.m. Thursday at Tahoma School District Central Services Center, 25720 Maple Valley-Black Diamond Road S.E., which is also known as the boardroom.
The candidates are the incumbent, Glenn Smith, seeking his second term; Jim Flynn, who served on the City Council for 10 years before losing to Layne Barnes for Position No. 3 and Bill Allison, a first-time candidate.
The event will be moderated by Tahoma High social studies teacher Barry Fountain.
Members of the Maple Valley Rotary Club will act as timers.
The public is welcome and encouraged to attend. There will be an opportunity for audience members to have their questions presented to the candidates by the moderator.
The debate is scheduled for 90 minutes. The opening 45 minutes will be questions from editorial staff of The Reporter, followed by questions submitted in writing from the audience.
Question forms will be available at the debate.
There will be opening and closing statements from each candidate.
