Incident of the week

At 10:56 p.m. on Thursday, May 16 in the 27800 block of Southeast 224th Street Maple Valley the Fire Department was dispatched to a residential structure fire. The homeowner was woken by the sounds of breaking glass. Upon arrival firefighters found a pickup truck, a storage building, and a wood pile fully engulfed. Firefighters worked to extinguish the fire and also protected the adjacent home from the spread of fire.

Approximately 3,500 gallons of water was brought in by a tender as there are no fire hydrants in the area. Losses were estimated at $50,000. The cause of the fire was from an electrical short. No injuries were reported.
