SLIDE SHOW TRACK AND FIELD: Kentwood sends 19 to state meet

The Conquerors are well represented on the field of battle in the state track and field meet this weekend.

Kentwood will send eight boys and 11 girls to state, including alternates for relay teams.

The 4A state action began Thursday at Mount Tahoma High in Tacoma and wraps up Saturday.

Thursday results were not available when this edition went to press.

For the boys team in running events, Tim Petit qualified in the 800 meter at the West Central District III 4A meet Saturday at Mount Tahoma. His time was 1 minute, 54.39 seconds.

Steve Warner made it to state in the 110-meter hurdles in 14.40 and Darius Coleman earned a state berth in the same event in 14.88.

Ricardo Tucker will run in the 300-meter hurdles. His district qualifying time was 40.92.

The Kentwood 1,600-meter relay team posted a qualifying time of 3:26.84. The members at state will be Tucker, Kevin Warner, Petit and Tristan Askew .

Cody Fishel will compete in the high jump. He cleared 6-04 at districts.

For the girls, speedster Holly Dehart will run in the 100 meter and 200. Her district 100-meter time was 12.50 and in the 200 25.74.

Dana Wareham will run in the 400 after posting 58.39 at district.

Kaily Ulland ran the 3,200 in 11:35.12 in district and she is moving onto state.

Kentwook will run in the 800-meter relay and the 1,600 relay.

Listed in the 800 are DeHart, Aiesha Goodlow, Quincie Proctor-Guyton and Wareham.

In the 1,600 is Alena Davis, DeHart, Kyra Gaines and Wareham.
