The Maple Valley Creative Arts Center will host local artist Kathleen Frugé-Brown for a three month rotation starting this week and will kick off the exhibit with Opening Night Reception at 7 p.m. on Friday, July 10.

The Maple Valley Creative Arts Council is presenting “Glass Forest,” an exhibit of works in vitreous enamel on glass and steel by Frugé-Brown.

Christina Grachek, a member of the Arts Council board, said the council is thrilled to host this exhibition.

“Kathleen’s work highlights the best of Maple Valley,” Grachek said. “Her depiction of scenes of Summit Landsburg, the Cedar River and other lush landscapes of the Pacific Northwest, once completed are timeless treasures. The Maple Valley Creative Arts Council and King County’s 4Culture is pleased to honor Kathleen Frugé-Brown with a solo show. We are confident her newest body of work, Glass Forest – works on vitreous enamel on glass and steel – will portray the landscape of Maple Valley in its full glory.”

“Glass Forest” showcases Frugé-Brown’s translations of her landscape imagery into vitreous media, and includes works related to her recent public commissions in vitreous enamel.

Frugé-Brown was able to create the work in this exhibit thanks to financial support in the form of and Individual Projects Grant from 4Culture. She worked on these pieces during her Hauberg Fellowship residency at Pilchuck Glass School in May.

Frugé-Brown is a painter, printmaker and public artist with a long-standing commitment to imagery from the natural world. Her work is held in many private and public collections and she has created public commissions for the Washington State Art in Public Places Program, the cities of Kent and Maple Valley among others.
