To honor Make a Difference Day volunteers, the Rotary Club of Maple Valley is serving a free hot breakfast at the Greater Maple Valley Community Center and the Black Diamond Community Center beginning at 8 a.m.
“It is so wonderful to see community members come together and work hard to help tackle some big projects around the Arboretum – all in one day,” said Susan Goodell, the Arboretum’s Garden Manager. “It shows me that Maple Valley really cares!”
The Make a Difference Day committee reports a number of projects are available for volunteers, ranging between three and four hours to complete.
Arboretum projects include weeding and mulching gardens, and removing brush along trails. Work on these projects will begin Saturday at 9 a.m. and continue until 1 p.m., or until all projects are completed.
There’s still time to volunteer for Arboretum or other Make a Difference Day projects. Please sign up through the Make a Difference Day committee by emailing ankie2@comcast.net, or calling the Greater Maple Valley Community Center at 425-432-1272.
Volunteers can also sign up through the Facebook Event Page.
“Regular Arboretum volunteers can email me at gardenmgr@lakewildernessarboretum.org,” Goodell said.
