Maple Valley Fire and Life Safety responded to seven fire calls between July 5-11. There was one cooking fire, one brush fire, two beauty bark fires and three residential structure fires.
July 8
HOME FIRE: 23500 block of 262nd Avenue Southeast. Firefighters were dispatched at 8:30 p.m. to a residential structure fire. A total of 25 firefighters from Maple Valley, Mountain View and Kangley-Palmer Fire Departments responded. The house was well involved with fire upon arrival. Firefighters fought for approximately three hours before completely extinguishing the fire. It is estimated the house is a total loss. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
July 7
ELECTRICAL FIRE: Southeast Pipeline Access Road. At about 11 a.m. firefighters were dispatched to an automatic fire alarm at a residence. Engine 81 responded and firefighters found smoke coming from under the house. The call was upgraded to a residential structure fire and additional resources were dispatched including an engine from Renton Fire Department. The fire was found in the crawl space and quickly extinguished. Damage to the house was minimal and loss estimated at $100. The cause of the fire was from faulty electrical wiring.
