Another fun, family-friendly Covington Days Festival is just around the corner and there are a few new features to enjoy this July 18-19.

With vendor spaces already sold out early, the festival will feature its popular main-stays like the parade on Saturday at 10 a.m.; the Watermelon Eating Contest Saturday at 2 p.m.; and live music on the main stage both days. Adding to the line-up, the renowned Reptile Man will perform two shows, Saturday at noon and Sunday at 2 p.m. And, wrapping up the festival on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. will be the Matt Baker Comedy + Stunt Show.

The City of Covington is weaving in a couple of ways for residents to meet their new police chief and city council members. On Saturday, festival-goers will have the chance to meet AND try to dunk the city’s new police chief Andy McCurdy at the Covington Aquatic Center Dunk Tank at 3 p.m. On Sunday, festival-goers will get to enjoy a free ice cream bar served up by the city council and they will also have the chance to try and dunk them in the dunk tank as well from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. (and while supplies last). A small donation is requested to try the dunking, with funds going to the Covington Aquatic Center Scholarship Program.

The Kids Zone will feature carnival games and mechanical rides including the Swings, the Pirate’s Revenge, and Tubs of Fun. Additionally, the inflatable slide, bounce house, and toddler zone will be available as well as the popular Trampoline Thing.

The festival will be located on 169th Place SE where the road will be closed, and in the adjacent Valley Medical North Clinic parking lot. More details can be found online.
