The Tahoma boys and girls track and field teams swept the West Central District 4A meet led by three top-step performances from sophomore speedster Olivia Ribera. The next stop for the Tahoma teams is the state meet that began Thursday and ends Saturday at Mount Tahoma High, 4634 South 74th St., Tacoma.
Girls to state
The girls team won with a score of 90.5, outpacing second place Curtis by double digits at 73.
Ribera won the 100 meters in 12.23 seconds. She followed that with a win in the 200 meters in 24.62 and currently holds the top time in the state in the event.
Along with the victories in running events, Ribera won the long jump reaching 18 feet, 2.50 inches.
Alice Jensen won the 3,200 in 10:43.53.
Delaney Tiernan took second in the 800 at 2:15.95 and the 1,600 in 5:04.27.

The boys team posted a score of 84 over South Kitsap at 81 for second.
Graeme Schroeder ran second in the 800 in 1:54.41 and the 1,600 in 4:20.41.
The 1,600 relay team took second in 3:22.76. The runners were Schroeder, Jacob Contreras, Austin Brown and Jordan White.
Caleb Brown took second in the long jump at 23-01.50.
