Maple Valley resident and former City Councilman Jim Flynn was awarded the Golden Maple Leaf Award at the Monday City Council meeting.

The award was a surprise for Flynn and most of the audience at the meeting.

As part of the honor, Flynn will be the grand marshal in this year’s Maple Valley Days parade Saturday, June 13.
