There may be some changes coming in the 47th district while things appear to remain the same in the 5th as the early election results were posted tonight, Tuesday, Nov. 2.
In the 47th, challengers in two of the three races had taken leads over the incumbents.
Long time state representative Geoff Simpson was losing to Mark Hargrove, who first ran against the incumbent in 2008 for Position 1, was ahead by more than 15 percent with 57.55 percent, or 13,698 votes, casting their ballots for him.
Joe Fain, a Republican who works for a King County Council member, had pulled ahead of Sen. Claudia Kauffman who was seeking her second term in the state Senate. In early returns Fain had pulled in 55.79 percent with 13,398 votes cast in his favor.
Meanwhile Rep. Pat Sullivan, a Democrat from Covington, was the lone incumbent from the 47th who had registered a lead and looked like he would be returning to the legislature in Position 2. Sullivan had picked up 12,998 votes of 55.17 percent, holding off first-time challenger Rodrigo Yanez.
For Position 1 in the 5th Legislative District Rep. Jay Rodne, a Republican, had a solid lead over challenger Democrat Gregory Hoover, tallying 62.16 percent of the votes with 19,986 ballots cast for the incumbent.
In the race for Position 2 in the 5th, Republican Glenn Anderson was fending off David Spring, who was taking the incumbent on again for the second time. Anderson had picked up 60.14 percent of votes cast, or 19,229 ballots.
