Tahoma slips in standings after loss to Kentridge

Despite a quick start, Tahoma wasn’t able to hang on in a battle of one versus two in the South Puget Sound League North Division Friday night, losing to Kentridge 2-1 at home.

Jason Downing took a pass from Jordan Downing and put it in the net for Tahoma as it made an aggressive charge on offense in the opening minutes. Just six minutes into the match the Bears led 1-0.

Through the rest of the first half and well into the second half the Bears and the Chargers traded shots.

Kentridge’s offense finally hits its groove when midfielder Sam Piehler took a ball from Sean Dunn for a short range shot. Piehler went right while Tahoma keeper Chad Burgess went left and the Chargers tied up the match at 1-1.

Dunn popped another pass off that led to a score just eight minutes later when he directed a ball to defender David Cahoon who took a sharp shot from 20 yards out to put Kentridge up 2-1.

From there on the Chargers held off the Bears who made several attempts to tie the game.

With the win Kentridge added to its cushion atop the North pushing its record to 7-1-2. Tahoma dropped to 5-3-1 and into a tie with Kentwood for third place.
