Crews with the King County Department of Natural Resources and Parks will perform routine maintenance to a bridge along the Cedar River Trail in Maple Valley that requires a one-day closure of a short stretch of the trail on Sept. 4. An equipment scheduling conflict forced a change from the initial closure day of Aug. 20.

The trail will be closed at the bridge near Fred V. Habenicht Rotary Park near the intersection of Witte Road Southeast and Southeast 221st Street in Maple Valley.

Crews will clean the bridge and perform other necessary maintenance to keep that portion of the Cedar River Trail safe for the public. Because of the bridge’s location, no practical detour route is available and trail users are encouraged to explore other portions of King County Parks’ 175-mile regional trail system during this brief closure.

The Cedar River Trail stretches 17.3 miles from the river’s mouth at Lake Washington upstream to Landsburg, at the boundary of the City of Seattle’s Cedar River Watershed.
