A 41-year-old Black Diamond man was arrested by King County Sheriff’s detectives June 16 and has been charged with first-degree manslaughter following the death of his mother.
According to Dan Donohoe, spokesman for the King County Prosecutor’s Office, the man is being held in the King County jail and his arraignment hearing is scheduled for July 6.
The man’s 88-year-old mother was found dead in their home in the 27400 block of the S.E. Green River Gorge Road, Tuesday.
Donohoe reported through e-mail a bail hearing was held Monday and the, “court set bail at $250,000. The deadline for filing charges is June 22.”
Sheriff’s deputies were called to the home about 1 a.m. June 16 after the man called to say his mother had died. Deputies found the woman in her bed, but she was severely emaciated and about 70 pounds. She had extremely severe open bed sores and bruising.
The son said his mother was not taking any medicines and had not seen a doctor in at least two years.
The sheriff’s office major crimes unit was called to the house to conduct the investigation. The suspect was interviewed again the night of June 16 and booked into the King County Jail about 8 p.m.
An autopsy was conducted by the Medical Examiner’s Office June 19.
